08.21.10DISAPPOINTING ACT RACE FOR JORDAN
Flat Tire Ends Top-Five Run
WATERFORD - Tim Jordan made a mistake in his heat race going for the lead, sliding up the hill, which set his night up with an uphill battle of getting to the front of the ACT 100 at Waterford Speedbowl. After winning the consi by a straightaway lead, Jordan started his trek towards the front of the field from 13th place. He slowly began passing strong cars on the outside, while sometimes getting stuck behind cars battling for position. By the end of the event, Jordan made it up to fifth. He was one of the few cars actually making passes, other than Brian Hoar, who was able to get clear of the traffic earlier in the race while Jordan got stuck. A lap 95 caution period was unfortunate for Jordan as he got a flat tire riding around while ACT tried resetting the lineup with lapped cars mixed in with the leaders. Jordan pulled off the track on the restart and finished a dismal 24th.

FROM 11TH TO THIRD AT WATERFORD
Jordan on Podium After 30 Lapper
The Bob Valenti Auto Mall Late Model field got their 30-lap event underway with Vin Esposito bolting to the early lead. The field was very active early, racing for position throughout the fourteen positions. Brian Andronaco Jr. settled into second ahead of Jason Palmer. The first caution waved on lap 9 when Jeff Zuidema, making his first Speedbowl start of the year, spun in turn four.
Esposito found Palmer on his bumper following the restart. Rich Staskowski moved up to third, bringing defending champion Bruce Thomas Jr. to fourth ahead of Andronaco. At halfway the best action was for seventh as J.R. Baril challenged Ernie Bertrand for the spot with point leaders Tim Jordan and Jeff Smith just behind.
Back up front Palmer was within striking distance of Esposito for the lead. He put pressure on the leader. Contact exiting turn two on lap 19 got Esposito loose off turn two, eventually spinning to the infield to bring out the caution again. Palmer resumed from the rear, putting Staskowski and Thomas on the front row.
Staskowski got the best of Thomas on the restart, with Joe Curioso claiming second and leaving Thomas to battle with Jordan. Thomas pulled away from Jordan to reel Curioso back in. He, Jordan and Bertrand found their way by Curioso by the time five laps remained. Thomas was closing on Staskowski, but ran out of time to challenge. Staskowski went on to his first career win in the division. Thomas was second over Jordan, Bertrand and Jeff Paul.

TIME RUNS OUT ON JORDAN
Gets To Second Place A Lap Too Late
Paul took the lead at the drop of the green flag in the 30-lap Bob Valenti Auto Mall Late Model feature race, leaving behind a battle for second between Vin Esposito and Joe Curioso. Esposito took that spot leaving Curioso in the clutches of Rich Staskowski who would move ahead into third. Jason Palmer and Tim Jordan also found their way by Curioso by lap 5 to occupy the top five positions. Palmer then challenged Staskowksi for third, trying for three laps to find the bite on the bottom of the track to take the spot away before finally doing so on lap 10. Jordan, the point leader, slipped under Staskowski for fourth bringing Jeff Smith with him into fifth.
Out front Paul was unchallenged through halfway. Esposito was a car length back in second, with Jordan beginning to look for a way around Palmer. Paul slowly increased his advantage to three cars as the race stayed caution free and closed to under ten laps remaining. Jordan found opportunity to shoot into third when Palmer slipped up out of turn four, which also enabled Smith to move by into fourth.
Jordan quickly closed in on Esposito for second after clearing Palmer. He looked to the high side, sailing into turn one with an impressive move to overtake Esposito as the field worked lap 27. He had just three laps to try and catch the leader, but Paul would not be denied his first win in the division. Paul regularly competes in the track’s SK Modified division®. Jordan was second, with Smith, Esposito and Palmer completing the top five.

JORDAN WINS AT WATERFORD
Win Three of Season
The 30-lap Bob Valenti Auto Mall Late Model race saw Rich Staskowski take the early lead with Jordan and Ernie Bertrand battling for second over the opening laps. Bertrand eventually overtook Jordan for the spot and focused on Staskowski out front. After an extraordinary five lap battle Bertrand was able to take the race lead on lap 10. One lap later a multi-car accident in turn three eliminated Dennis Botticello and Brian Andronaco Jr. Jason Palmer was also involved.
Bertrand resumed at the front following the restart. He would be challenged by point leader Tim Jordan as the race reached halfway, as Jordan tried to find racing room to the bottom of Bertrand before climbing the track and pulling alongside his outside on lap 16. He nudged ahead in the outside lane, and was in sole command of the lead by lap 18. Jeff Smith took the top groove and also moved past Bertrand into second, with Bertrand holding third over Joe Curioso. Bruce Thomas had entered the top five behind them on lap 20.
Up front Jordan held a one car advantage over Smith. Further back Thomas was pressuring Curioso for fourth, which escalated into both cars making contact coming to the stripe on lap 23, getting into the frontstretch wall to bring out caution. Both drove to the pits for repair, but were done for the night.
Jordan nailed the final restart versus Smith and went on to his third victory of the season to pad his lead in the championship standings over Smith. Smith finished a car back in second, with Staskowski, Bertrand and Vin Esposito rounding out the top five.

JORDAN DOMINATES, GET FLAT UNDER YELLOW, ENDS UP 7TH
Flat Tire Hands Away Win After Leading 47 Laps
Jason Palmer led lap one of a 50-lapper for the Bob Valenti Auto Mall Late Model race but had both Tim Jordan and Bruce Thomas hot on his tail from the drop of the green flag. Jordan powered outside Palmer to take the lead on lap two. Thomas followed that move a lap later to take second, with Vin Esposito challenging Palmer for third. Marc Curtis rounded out the top five in the opening circuits as the race settled in to rhythm.
At the front, Jordan held a two length advantage over Thomas. Palmer began coming on stronger and distanced himself from Esposito, chasing back after Thomas in second. Rich Staskowski made his way under Curtis on lap 15 to enter the top five, dropping Curtis to sixth ahead of Ernie Bertrand. Staskowski then began to close in on Esposito for fourth as the race moved past halfway and remained under the green flag.
Jordan continued to keep the tandem of Thomas and Palmer at bay to remain in control. While trying to track down the leader, Thomas momentarily got out of shape in turn two on lap 32. He was able to maintain his spot, but at the expense of losing ground on the leader. Thomas set his sights back on running down Jordan after keeping Palmer in check. Just as the race appeared headed for a clean finish, the only caution flag of the race came out on lap 48 when Bertrand spun in turn four. That set up a restart with two laps remaining between Thomas and Jordan, the division’s most successful drivers of the last four seasons.
With the green flag in the air, heartbreak set in on Jordan when he was the victim of a right rear tire going down, allowing Thomas to take over. Jordan struggled into turn one causing the field behind to bottleneck and bring out caution with cars spinning. Jordan headed to the pits to change his soft tire and would resume at the tail of the lead lap cars.
Jordan came home 7th and somehow salvaged his points lead.
"What can you do? Get mad, or get motivated. We live by the motto 'No Excuses' this season. The flat happened, we led 47 laps of the 50 and salvaged a 7th from 14th on the restart with two laps left. It's going to take a hell of a lot more than that to knock my father and I down. But talk is cheap, we want wins, and we want to race and we need to let our performance do the talking. We're dedicated to this season," said Jordan.

JORDAN FIFTH AT WATERFORD
WATERFORD - Tim Jordan finished fifth in the 30-lap, caution-free event. Jordan raced Bruce Thomas Jr. for fourth position for many laps as the two looked determined to make it to the front of the field while driving ill-handling cars. Jordan slipped up in turn three with ten laps to go, got sideways, and corrected his machine, getting back to the bumpers of the top four cars as the checkered fell.
"The car went up the hill and I chased it, that's what made us have contact and luckily I was the only one who suffered any consequences. We were way too loose and we'll work on that for the summer stretch here," Jordan said. " The car was the fastest thing here, just at the wrong time. We need to get some more stability for me, and ultimately, I'm the one that has to find it as I set up the car. We'll get it. I just missed it a bit tonight."

JORDAN WINDS 'UP' SECOND AT WATERFORD
WATERFORD - Tim Jordan passed every car in front of him Saturday night on the outside. A late race restart allowed him to race Bruce Thomas for the win over the last three laps. On the green, Jordan began to slowly work by him on the outside.
Thomas unfortunately won the race by .014 seconds after slight contact with Jordan in the turns three and four.
